Welcome to GreenLane Stud
GreenLane Stud was established by Peter Greenaway and Kathy Lane in 2007 with the vision to breed top competition horses. Peter and Kathy purchased some extremely well bred mares to be the foundation stock of the stud. Very sadly Kathy died in early 2011, but Peter has continued with the programme and the horses are achieving much success both nationally and internationally even though the eldest horses are only 11 years old, so just coming towards their prime.
GreenLane Stud are very lucky to work with some top riders: Show jumpers are produced by Australian international rider Stephen Mercer, based in Four Marks, Hampshire; the dressage horses are produced by Joshua Hill based near East Grinstead in Sussex; the event horses are produced by Georgie Wood, based in Reigate, Surrey. All of them do a fantastic job looking after and competing the horses for us and we work very much in partnership with them to ensure they have the best start to their competitive career and find great competition homes for the future.
We are also very lucky top have the support of Georgie’s mother, Gill Maybury Equine Chiropractor, who ensures particularly the event and dressage horses are in top condition – the show jumpers are rather too far away.
Without all these great professionals GreenLane Stud would not enjoy the tremendous success they have achieved.
In 2014, GreenLane Stud relocated to Dorset and are now established just outside Dorchester in a hamlet called Waterston. The horses all have a great life there, the climate is very mild, and they can live out in the fields for most of the year.
GreenLane Stud now have one established young stallion, GreenLanes Jester, who stood in 2019 at West Kington Stud in Wiltshire for 10 weeks and has several foals due in 2020, so that will be very exciting to see. We also have a young show jumping/eventing colt, GreenLanes LeBambalou, who we hope will be standing at stud in 2020 along with Jester – although we do already have a sneaky unplanned foal by him born in 2019 who is gorgeous, we’ve named her Oops-a-Daisy!
We never rush our horses and prefer to invest more in them to ensure that they have a great start in life and a long and successful competition career rather than push them to reach a high level quickly. We believe that this gives them the best foundation and will lead to a long and successful competition career.
Our horses are all very well handled, and we aim to provide quality competition horses for the professional and serious amateur market.
If you would like to find out more about our foals, youngsters or competition horses, or of course either of our superb stallions, please do get in touch by phone or email, or via our Facebook page.
