Mares

Quality horses for discerning competitors

We are a small stud concentrating on breeding quality horses for discerning competitors, so we only have a small number of top-quality broodmares.  However, we have concentrated on buying well bred mares with top European bloodlines.  Most of them are “career broodmares” so don’t have a competition record themselves, although occasionally we do have a foal from one of our top filly foals before they start a competition career.

We are very pleased to introduce our broodmares:

Amusora, 2005 mare, Florencio x Lancet

“Rosie” is one of our foundation mares and has had a number of top quality dressage foals for us.  She has a super temperament, stands at about 16.3 hh, is liver chestnut and a really super mare.  We bought her as a 3 year old from her breeders in Holland and we are still in contact with them.  Her first foal was a colt by Sandreo, GreenLanes Enigma, who was Regional Champion in 2014 and Reserve Regional Champion in 2018.  He is now owned by Ellie Webb-Smith and will be taking her through the levels over the coming years.  Her second foal was another colt, by Negro, GreenLanes Jester, who is a very exciting competition horse and we have retained him as a dressage stallion. His first foals are due in 2020.  She has then had 2 filly foals, GreenLanes Lullaby, by Bretton Woods born in 2016 and currently being backed, and in 2017 GreenLanes Minara, by Johnson.

Amsterdam, 2005 mare, Burggraaf x Concorde

Another of our foundation mares, Jam is not an easy mare to get in foal, but they are always worth the hard work and wait!  She stands at about 16.1 hh and has the best temperament of all of our broodmares which she passes on to all of her stock.  Only one of her foals has been backed and is competing, GreenLanes Elidor (by Plinius B), who was in the winning Team Quest team the first year the competition was held.  We also have two very exciting fillies from her at home, GreenLanes ‘Mazing Muse (by I’m Special de Muze) who was born in 2017 and we aim to have a foal from her in 2021 by our own exciting young stallion GreenLanes LeBambalou (Balou du Rouet x Warrant), and the very pretty GreenLanes Nathalia, by Pilothargo (Pilot x Carthago Z).

GreenLanes Hope, 2009 mare, Concorde x Danzig Connection (xx)

Hope is out of the same mare as our international show jumper GreenLanes Balou Star (by Balou du Rouet) and was bred by us here at GreenLane Stud.  She stands at about 16 hh and was initially a competition horse along with her half sister.  Sadly their dam died foaling her 4th foal and we decided to keep the line going with Hope so she was retired from competition as a rising 6 year old having just been placed 4th in the Blue Chip National 1.10m final at Hartpury!  We have had 2 foals from her, the first is GreenLanes Lilibet (by Balou du Rouet) who was born in 2016 and is currently being backed and will start her show jumping career later in 2020.  We also have a 2018 gelding of hers, GreenLanes Nobless (by I’m  Special de Muze) who looks to be a very exciting show jumping or event prospect.

A-Fleur, 2005 mare, Sir Sinclair x Florett

Fleur joined us in 2014 with s super foal at foot, GreenLanes Joie de Vivre, who is now competing with Josh Hill and has qualified for the Winter Regional Finals.  She stands at about 16.2 hh and is a lovely, easy mare.  She is due the first foal sired by our exciting young stallion, GreenLanes Jester, in 2020.  As well as Vee above, Fleur is also the dam of our super GreenLanes Karousel (by Eyecatcher) who in turn is the dam of our first foal by GreenLanes LeBambalou, GreenLanes Oops-a-Daisy , who wasn’t entirely planned but is a very happy accident!  We also have a really super filly out of her, GreenLanes Nina, by Impact TN (Sir Donnerhall x Krack C) who was born in 2018.

Bereina, 2006 mare, Johnson x Amor

Beryl is a fairly new addition for us and we have only had one foal out of her so far.  Although dressage bred, she is quite a sharp little mare (standing at about 16 hh) and we decided to put her in foal to a show jumper. She produced a beautiful filly, GreenLanes Molly Malone, by the Clinton son Zacharov, who looks as if she will have a great temperament for show jumping or eventing in the future.  Beryl will be put in foal to our young dressage stallion, GreenLanes Jester, for the 2021 foaling season.
