Small breeders… big on quality
As small breeders we only have a few foals each year but we concentrate on the quality of these foals rather than quantity. We rarely sell the youngsters until they have been backed and have a competition record, but if you are looking for something in particular and like what we have, we may sell them prior to backing – providing that they are going to top homes where they will be looked after and treated well.
For youngsters here, these are our horses who are rising 3 and above in 2020 – those younger are on our Foals page and those older on the Competition Horses or For Sale page. We have very exciting youngsters for all disciplines and you are very welcome to come to see them if you would like to. Just call to make an appointment. All of our horses live out as much as possible and are treated very much as horses whilst they are growing up, so they are all handled, have regular farrier and vet checks but other than that live as a small herd in the fields, so don’t expect them to be prepared for visitors from an aesthetic point of view! Plenty of time for polishing and grooming when they are competing!
Lilibet is a super filly born in 2016, by the fantastic German stallion Balou du Rouet out of our own GreenLanes Hope (Concorde x Danzig Connection (xx)). She has a super temperament and is very brave, loading onto a lorry when she went for backing the first time. She is also a 3/4 sibling to our great international show jumper GreenLanes Balou Star, being by the same sire and out of a maternal half sister. She started being backed by Connie Colfox in December 2019 and should be moving to her rider Stephen Mercer around March / April depending on his international commitments. We think she will be a very exciting show jump prospect and we are hoping that she grows to over the 16 hh level when mature!
Lulu has the presence and paces to go a very long way in dressage! She is by the top Dutch bred stallion Bretton Woods and is out of our fantastic dressage mare, Amusora (Florencio x Lancet), who is also the dam of our exciting stallion GreenLanes Jester. Lulu has a really superb temperament and loves people. She has proven to be a very quick learner with Connie Colfox and will soon be ready to join her rider Josh Hill for competition preparation. After just 3 weeks with Connie she was hacking out and leading her friend Lilibet who arrived a couple of weeks later with them! A real star for the future!
GreenLanes ‘Mazing Muse
Maisie is an outstanding type as a show jumping horse with a superb temperament and conformation. She is by the very exciting Dutch stallion I’m Special de Muze, by the great Emerald, and out of our super mare Amsterdam (Burggraaf x Concorde) so has superb breeding. We may have a foal from her before she starts her competitive career as we think she is so very exciting and it never hurts to give them a little more time to mature. When she has been backed she will be joining our show jump rider, Stephen Mercer. Probably one of the best jumping horses we have bred so far. Maisie was assessed by the AES as a foal and was awarded the top level of 3 tars for her competition potential.
Millie is the fourth foal out of our superb mare Amusora, dam of our stallion GreenLanes Jester, and she is certainly continuing the quality of her offspring! By the great multi Olympic medal winning stallion Johnson, Millie has exceptional paces and a lovely temperament to match. She has excellent natural balance and floats across the ground. We are very excited about her competition future and look forward to seeing her training in a couple of years time. She was assessed by the AES and scored the top level of 3 stars for her competition potential.
GreenLanes Molly Malone
Molly is a very exciting young lady out of a dressage bred mare, Bereina (Johnson x Amor) and by a top show jumping bred stallion Zacharov, by the great Olympic winner Clinton. We thought that her mother, Beryl, has the temperament and type to produce an exciting show jumping foal and we think we were right! Molly has a lot of personality and you certainly don’t miss her in the herd – she likes to be at the forefront of everything going on. But she is also very loving and loves attention when you go into the field or she is in the stable. She is a very quick thinking and moving horse and we are looking forward to seeing her under saddle and what she makes of jumps! She was assessed by the AES with 2 stars when she was a foal – we think she is worth 3 now and look forward to seeing her progress over the years.
